Welcome to Sam Hill's website
Sam Hill is a proactive and hands-on experienced IT Professional with a proven strategic, architectural, management, and development track record.

Between 1999 and 2007, Sam was working in various senior roles within the telecomunications sector. Developing, growing and helping to transform a number of the UK's largest ISPs and telecoms providers into profitable, multi-award winning businesses. Including working for NetDirect, Ision, energis (now part of Cable and Wireless), NDO and finally Namesco.

In 2007, a change of direction was needed and Sam switched to working in the Financial Services sector; an area some may find quite dry but Sam finds fascinating. He is currently working as a Technical Manager running a team of 14 developers, testers and project managers delivering a variety of different bespoke solutions around regulation compliance and policy management for most of the worlds leading financial institutions. This work lead to Sam winning "Manager of the Year" in April 2008.

Technical Architect, Developer and Project/Development Manager
Sam has been developing computer software since 1992, and has great experience of working on projects with budgets ranging from just £1 to £2.5million and everything in-between. An expert in most software development languages (primary choices are Java, PHP and C# (with .Net)) and experience of working with and managing teams of upto 40 developers. Always ensuring everyone is motivated and happy and that the work created exceeds everyones expectations.

Sam has designed and been the main Technical Architect on systems and services ranging from regulation and compliance solutions, financial billing platforms, complex combined CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) solutions along with internet specific projects - such as CMS (Content Managment Systems), ebusiness websites and packages and SDS (Service Delivery Systems) for example, for Broadband and Telephony services.

Website History
This website originally landed on the Internet on the 15th September 1997 and has recently had its 10th birthday. It has, just like the Internet space it is a part of, evolved over time and changed beyond recognition. Back in 1997, websites were typically either a blue/yellow or a black/grey coloured affair with as many animated GIFs as possible. Now its all clean lines and simplicity in this "Web2.0" world. Although, to be honest not much has changed as far as this websites contents goes. It still is my little home on the Internet and despite the evolution of sites such as facebook, myspace and flickr this is where I tend to put my photos. Maybe, I will even start a blog again.
